Where can I turn to for support?
The following help services are available – mostly 24/7 – to provide help and support for people who are concerned about their alcohol or other drug use.
ADIS – Alcohol and Drug Information Services
The Alcohol and Drug Information Services (ADIS) are state and territory-based phone services that offer information, advice, referral, intake, assessment and support 24-hours a day. They offer services for individuals, their family and friends, general practitioners, other health professionals and business and community groups.
ADIS staff are professionally-trained counsellors, so you can expect to talk to someone who is non-judgemental and respectful of your privacy and dignity. You can also be sure that the information you receive is current, relevant, supportive and sensitive to your needs and situation. The support you can expect to receive includes information on detoxification services, rehabilitation, counselling services in your community, and agencies or practitioners who work in areas related to alcohol and drug problems.
Call the National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline below to re-direct you to your local ADIS, or click on your State or Territory below to take you the number directly.
